Much like any other sport, fencing requires equipment. Although the club has equipment that members are able to use during practice, it is highly recommended that any member wishing to advance their fencing skills purchase their own personal equipment to use. This is also recommended for any member of the fencing club wishing to compete in fencing tournaments and events.
A common list of equipment to purchase or consider purchasing is:
- A jacket
- A mask
- A glove (required for any member wishing to learn épée or sabre)
- Chest protector (recommended for girls only)
- Shoes (recommended for any fencer wishing to compete)
- Plastrons (required for any fencer wishing to compete)
- Spare blades/weapons (recommended for any fencer wishing to compete)
- Knickers/pants (required for any fencer wishing to compete)
There are several sources from which to purchase this equipment. If at any time any member is wishing to purchase personal equipment, it is recommended that they speak to an instructor or club officer as to what they should purchase and where to purchase it from. When ordering gloves or grips, please ask an instructor to help you find the right size.
| Blue Gauntlet |
Tripelette |
| This is the most used and ordered from web site within the club. Their prices are competitive and shipping times are rather accurate. You can find anything you are looking for on this site, including FIE jackets, knickers, and shoes, as well as France-Lames blades and parts for those épées or foils that need some fixing up. |
Looking for a more Order-By-Phone site, this is your pick. Although this site does not have the easy web ordering as others, it does hold the same amount of variety with their selections of equipment. |
| American Fencers Supply |
The Fencing Post |
| Easy navigation and fast checkouts let you readily find what you are looking for. Much like BG, this site offers a large variety of well-known names. The search tool allows you to quickly access their list of supplies to help you find everything you need, or just plain desire to have. |
Don't know what you are looking for right off the bat?? Just click your favorite weapon on their start page and you will find everything you need right there. Can't be any easier than that. Want some good deals, then stop by this site. They usually have some sort of sale going on each week and readily give discounts to returning customers. |
| Physical Chess |
Leon Paul Fencing |
| Fencing is just like it sounds, a back and forth game of physical chess. Thank goodness there are sites like this which divide their equipment into categories based on what they are, like gloves, knickers, or just body cords. Credit cards are welcome and shipping is relatively easy on the wallet. |
Quality to extreme is the theme to equipment from Leon Paul. Although more expensive than other equipment sites, this place gives you superior quality and craftsmanship. Most equipment is pre-rated for FIE and shipping withing the US is reasonable. |
